Siding and exterior walls

House Washing

Mildew and algae taken off siding in Marietta and the towns around it, with the plants and grass along the foundation left standing.

Green and black streaks on the north wall are mildew and algae, not dirt

Walk around almost any house in Acworth or Marietta and the pattern repeats: green on the shaded north wall, black freckles under the eaves and behind the shrubs, and long dark runs below the gutters. The green is algae and the black is mildew. Both feed on the moisture a shaded wall holds on to, which is why the sunny side of the same house can look fine.

Rinsing with a garden hose rarely helps, because the growth is still there when the wall dries. Dirt wipes off. A living film has to be treated, then rinsed away.

Streaked siding also makes a house look older and more worn than it is. A cleaned wall changes how the whole place reads from the street, trim and soffits included.

A cleaning solution the plants survive, then a full rinse

Stacey L in Acworth had mold and mildew on her siding, and what she wrote about Ray was specific: he used “chemicals that didn't kill my plants and grass.” On a house wash the shrubs under the windows are the part that can go wrong, and she noticed that they didn't.

Ray's published philosophy covers it: “this extreme care and respect will extend to your property and surroundings.” If you have something delicate near the walls, such as hanging baskets, a vegetable bed or new azaleas, say so when you call (678) 203-2912.

Water goes around windows, doors and light fixtures on any house wash, which is one reason the crew's $1 million in liability insurance matters, and why punctuality is Ray's first value: the crew arrives on the schedule you agreed to.

Curb appeal, resale and the small problems a clean wall shows you

A washed house changes what a buyer sees from the street before they ever open the door. In Marietta and Kennesaw, where subdivisions put near-identical houses side by side, the clean one is the one people remember.

Clean siding also shows what the streaks were hiding: a cracked caulk line at a window, a soft piece of trim, a gap near a downspout. Once the wall is dry, walk it yourself with a phone and take pictures of anything that looks off while it's easy to see.

If the result isn't what you expected, you will receive 100% of your money back. No questions asked. Ray's crew of veterans and National Guard members would rather you call than wonder.

Three marks on the siding, and what each one means

  1. Green, shaded side

Algae. It grows where a wall stays damp and sees the least sun, usually the north and the sides facing the trees.

  2. Black freckles

Mildew. Look under the eaves, behind shrubs and around the porch, where air barely moves.

  3. Dark runs below gutters

Runoff staining. It follows the water path, so the pattern is vertical and repeats under each downspout.

“My house had a lot of mold and mildew on the siding and was happy to see that Ray not only used chemicals that didn't kill my plants and grass, but was very professional”
